eBay horror stories

Before I start to relate my worst eBay experience, I want to make it clear that I always deliberately buy from eBay sellers with a high positive rating, so I count myself lucky; people actually had worser experience on eBay.

The most recent trouble I ran into on eBay is when I bought a pair of hair straightener/iron from a Singaporean seller. From my experience, Singaporean sellers are reliable, and usually don't mind pressing inquiries (I do this all the time). This seller was no different: she was helpful, and I say this because I sought her out first for the said product, and she dealt with me professionally, which is all very well. Soon after, I placed the order and she proceed to deliver it.

A few days after it has been marked as dispached, I tried the tracking code, but it does not work. This usually doesn't bother me, because tracking codes generally take a few days to update, but I was a bit nervous seeing as it is from Singapore, it should not take them that long. I waited another three days and tried again and again it did not work. Something's wrong.

I contacted the seller immediately and relayed my concern, and she got back to me pretty quickly and had a check at SingPost. From there on it's nightmare. I waited nervously for a week while she updated me, SingPost trying to trace it...then, BAM! Apparently it was lost somewhere in the Singaporean postal system.

Thank goodness she's a reasonable seller and told me she'll send me another one...directly from Hong Kong, using EMS as insuranced delivery. Actually, she's not just reasonable, she's pretty awesome to do so much!

She definitity will get 100% positive rating from me.

Another experience which left me feeling quite angry is a seller from Canada. I bought a concealer wheel from the said seller, but it was never marked as posted...until it landed on my doorstep.

I've always avoided buying from US/Canada sellers, because if they're not extremely helpful, they're extremely rude. Plus, I have no idea why shipping from across the world never have any problems (aside from the one mentioned above), but shipping from across the Atlantic is like shipping into the Bermuda Triangle. The item usually end up:

  1. lost,
  2. damaged, or
  3. take ages to arrive in bad condition.

Seriously, I've only had one good experience with shipping across the Atlantic so far, so you should understand my standpoint.

I seek out the seller and relayed my concern. It's not taken very well and I received a very rude reply.

I gave him 80% negative rating.

Nowadays, I rarely buy from eBay but from smaller, more reliable self-run webstores.

Breaking: appearances are not everything.

I am, to put it very mildly, angry.

This anger has been building up for sometime, so I might be overreacting to a very small matter, but believe me, it is a very annoying matter and of very bad taste.

I am talking about the people who thinks trolling people with a website which does not exist is extremely funny.

Of course, their intention might not be to troll, but to look good. Or at least pretend to look good. Which, kinda ironically, only make them look even worse. I'm not going to point any fingers, but from where I come from this is such a common practice, people turn a blind eye.

I am annoyed because I actually started up websites from scratch, URLs, source codes, and all. I am no web designer, but at least I don't troll with a URL that seems nice but lead to nowhere (this is fairly recent, so the website is not down - there's no sign of source code, nada).

These are the people who spend money buying cars, gadgets, appliances to give the illusion they are well-to-do but actually are hitting rock bottom. It's a viscious cycle.

How on earth can people make progress with this type of behavior? I am so disgusted, it's not even funny.

Wet maps no more!

Nov 16, 2011

So after being damn pissed off at how wet maps get during mapping (WE WANT WATERPROOF MAPS DAMMIT), I went ahead and got myself this fucking expensive map case retailing at 39 quid goddamit.

It came nicely wrapped in a box (beneath the map case in the photo) and apparently have two features that I was not aware of at the time of purchase. I got it in red because it'll be easy to spot if for some reason I forgot where I left it. Loud colours during field trips FTW.

TC forever alone.

I've been so busy with assignments lately I decided to take yesterday (Thursday) off and relax, since lectures are cancelled!

My idea of relax is surfing the internet stalking Tsubasa and my favourite blogs, plus finding the cheapest online shop to buy Dolly Wink and Candy Doll products. My life is sad LOL

I've recently bought the Koji Dolly Wink Volume mascara from an eBay seller in UK. It arrived super fast (I was expecting a week's wait) and in the original packaging! My only complaint is the seller forget to mark payment received and dispatch notice (hence why I expect it to arrive late).

It does volumise my eyelashes - I've never seen my eyelashes so clearly in the mirror before! I think I need to get a better eyelash curler tho, I got one from The Body Shop recently but everytime I curl my eyelash I have to do some sort of ninja maneuver to avoid clamping on my eyelids. It feels like it's going to pull out my lashes too...or is it because I'm a noob? I've used my mom's eyelash curler before and I swear the experience wasn't painful...or at least not this painful.

My personal torture equipment.

Anyway I found out Candy Doll has released base and blush brush set! Japan Beauty has kindly stocked them upon my request. Dolly Wink is going to release new products too, among them eyebrow pencils, eyebrow mascara & eyebrows palette. I want them all, especially the eyebrow mascara! Nearly bought the Palty ones, good thing I read Eki's blog! Tsubasa has indeed been busy ^^

Then, out of the blue, my boyfriend want to Skype with me :D I made him wait for almost an hour while I rushed thru shower and getting ready. Sorry honey! His smile made it worthwhile tho. I can't find such a cuddly koala anywhere else (except in a toy store) :D

Somehow I fell asleep and was woken up by my housemates and the guys working on a dateline. Had a late dinner afterwards.

No idea how to end this properly LOL

Virtual living is ♥

Okay before I gush about how nice the Sims game is I need to say I used to think people spending hours play Maple and Second Life is:

  1. incredibly sad
  2. possibly an otaku
  3. possibly a perv

So one day a year plus ago someone got me Sims 3 as a late birthday present. I played it for a day and decide I'm wasting precious time.

Then my friend got me the Generation Expansion Pack, and I got so addicted to playing it now wtf. Even got myself the Ambitions Expansion Pack =.=

I guess you can probably tell I don't have much of a social life.
