Everyone, Happy New Year!
2010 has arrived.
Last year, ⌈again⌋ was released,
then the performance at Summer Fest,
The release of ⌈It's all too much/Never say die⌋, etc.
Thanks to the support of so many fans,
YUI was able to work in a 'my pace' manner so to speak,
We are truly grateful!
Thank you very much!
In 2010, YUI and her music,
Will hopefully become the origin of smiles for everyone,
including us the staff members!
This year, let's spend it enjoyably too!
We'll be in your care. (Yoroshiku onegaishimasu)

As a YUILover and also an amateur web designer, I have always been fascinated by how YUI's official website (referred to as YUI-net hereafter) is designed to keep out unwanted ripping. After managing to gain 'access' to YUI-net's system, I will now list all the security blocks currently working on YUI-net.
To start off, I must say the security blocks are very well done. A person with no knowledge of HTML/CSS will not be able to figure out just how Sony Japan create this miraculous website.
Security blocks:
#1 Masked web-forwarding.
The URL, YUI-net.com, is in reality a secondary URL. I will not reveal the primary URL here as I want to keep it to myself.
Basically, for non-web-designers, masked web forwarding means a particular URL will redirect to a particular web page BUT the URL of the particular web page is 'masked', i.e. not shown.
In the case of YUI-net, http://yui-net.com/ will redirect to http://.../ (I'm not going to reveal it to protect Sony Japan - ironic much?) BUT the URL in the address bar will still be displayed as http://yui-net.com/
An example of masked web-forwarding in use is my secondary URL http://ping-gd.net/. Try clicking on a link and be amazed the URL in the address bar remain displayed as http://ping-gd.net/
Click here to see it in action.
#2 Hidden within and within and within another hosted folder.
Sorry to disappoint but this is no adabracadabra trick. It's relatively simple - hide a particular hosted folder deep within a few others. Too bad my hosting agent won't let me try this, otherwise you will be confronted with a high-tech and professional-looking layout the next time you visit my website.
A neat little trick that is a must for this hiding technique is a 404 error page. To do this, create a 404 page, name it as index.html and place it within a hosted folder. The hosted folder will then be displayed as 'access denied' to all but clever you, who knows how to get around to this.
Although I can't go all Grande Desseins like Sony Japan, I can still throw around a few 404 error pages. To the retards who tried to steal the pictures on my blog, I present you this.
And that's all! Run along, now!

I had a nice dream last night...I dreamt I met YUI!
Well in the dream I was at this place which looked like a mall. I was with my family and somehow, instinctively, I knew I was in Japan. There was this stage set up in the middle of the mall. It's quite hard to explain how it looked like so I'm going to use my not-so-great Microsoft Paint skills to show you.
The gray parts are ads banners and the orange part is the stage. Anyway there were not a lot of people there and although I had no idea who will be performing soon (the light blue and the dark blue parts were covered with a cloth at this point), I stood there a few feet in front of the stage anyway.
Then rapidly a lot of people began to gather around the stage. The cloth was dropped and I saw it said "YUI ⌈GLORIA⌋". I also saw the Japanese Kanji word "attack!".
As you can imagine, I became very excited at this point. (laughs)
A few minutes later a man came onto the stage! The man said something in Japanese which I somehow understood (dreams are weird aren't they?) to be something along the lines of "attack pledges" and "encouragements".
Then he said, "and now we welcome...YUI!" and YUI came onto the stage! A huge cheer went up from the crowd surrounding me. YUI waved shyly and said, "Hello, I am YUI." (The crowd and me cheered again.)
The man mysteriously disappeared and YUI said, "Have you guys heard GLORIA yet?" (The crowd and me answered yes excitedly.) "It is a song written based on the attack pledges of high school students and I hope it will motive people to do things which will have a greater good for them in the future." She fumbled a bit with the mike and her band came onto the stage. Then she said, "YUI, kitte kudasai. YUI te, GUROEIA."
She started singing GLORIA. The weird thing is, she didn't have a guitar with her. At the chorus of the song, she walked to the back of the stage and held onto something we couldn't see.
Then, she was lifted up...and appeared at the first dark blue part of the stage holding onto a white balloon, all the while singing! The crowd cheered. She was slowly lifted down back onto the stage, balloon still in hand. She scanned the crowd for a bit and gave the balloon to a little girl who was with her mother at the front of the stage.
I know what you think. It was an awesome dream, and it only gets better.
After she finished singing GLORIA, she said "thank you" and exited the stage. By this time I had gotten separated with my family and had no idea where they were. I was hungry so I decided to eat. Then I met YUI.
I went up to her and told her I am a big fan of her. (I have no idea what language I am speaking in.) She smiled and I whipped out my copy of GLORIA first press limited edition out of my handbag (now, how did it get there?) and asked for an autograph. She signed it, smiling, and I was so happy!
P.S. Mr Sonry was not around. Hahaha!
Then embarrassingly my stomach growled and she looked at me and said, "why don't we eat together? I haven't eaten either!" I immediately agreed, excited. Now I wondered why I hadn't faint on the spot. Must be because it was a dream.
We went to this ramen shop and ate there. While eating, she asked me how I come to know her and stuff, and I answered in my miraculously fluent Japanese. (This is indeed a weird but nice dream.) After the meal, she insisted on paying although I protested. =_= Mr Sonry popped out of nowhere and dragged YUI away, and I woke up.
What do you guys think? It must be because I was listening to GLORIA before I slept last night. =D

Muffler
YUI
GLORIA
unofficial translation
This year's winter, I was sure
We would be meeting again
Even after 4 years, you immediately smiled at me
On the way home from Miyajidake Shrine
In the middle of the path downhill,
In order to warm up the tomorrow
that seems almost frozen
I swing my arms
The town in my memories, under the twilight,
Rather than becoming nostalgic
In an even faster speed
Time seems to be rewinding itself
But the red muffler caught my attention
"Will you come back once in a while?"
You asked with a tiny voice
I started to nod but
...no
What if you already have a girlfriend?
I thought about that, absent-minded
Perhaps, that muffler too
is a present from her?
Unexpected reunions,
It's better to past them by quickly
Surely, the memories would change too
I know I'm not going back, to those days when I started to love,
I'm just glancing over my shoulder for a little while.
As soon as this season is over, the two of us (wo)
Will be separated once again right?
We always talk about this
Just like that day
The cold wind blows
In between the two of us lies a mean little joke
Erased by the uttered "good byes"
In reality I think,
You wanted me to stop you from leaving.
But I understand that
I'm probably thinking too much right?
ah ah la la la...
Each time a red muffler
catches my attention
Always ah ah la la la...

Us YLs (YUILovers) are so used to seeing this sign on YouTube, we even started making cynical jokes about Sony:

GLORIA
YUI
GLORIA
unofficial translation
ah ah ah ah ah
The door to fascination? Even your view of your future
Tries to change, because of your youth
Your life changes, you want a girlfriend/boyfriend
But you become a coward, it's like a mountain full of challenges
In order to find the answer,
I can't throw away this feeling, all night long
Isn't it your dream?
Just a bit more, and you feel you can reach it
Sometimes I can't see it anymore
Cry?
It's the same even if you look for a shortcut
You'll just get lost again
ah ah ah ah ah
All the successful people, they boast
about their experiences, but they sound like they're talking about others
And here I am, in this small room
Thinking, Dreaming of my future
I ask myself, but
I can't imagine that feeling, all night long
Aren't you losing?
GLORIA just past that bright future
You sure are getting closer
Cry?
I won't blame others anymore
I'll take it all myself
If you can't forget about youself and do this frantically, it's all a lie
uh uh uh When sakura starts blooming
uh uh uh I'll probably be able to find my new self
It's not a dream, you believe that you can do this
Although I'm scared inside
Cry?
You feel vexed, so Get glory days
Aren't you losing?
GLORIA in front of the bright future
You sure are getting closer
Cry?
Alone during sleepless nights
Even when you wrap your arms around your knees
baby theres no time to cry
ah ah ah ah ah

At long last (well, not really that long), I received an email from one of my university choices, that is not an acknowledgement (I'm still waiting for an acknowledgement email from University of Leicester). It was from the University of Southampton inviting me to a so-called interview day.
